The best tennis players will be provided with a guaranteed income and compensation in case of injury, and financial support for young talents is also being introduced.
ATP introduced a financial guarantee program for players Baseline. The launch of the program is planned from 2024 as a three-year test project.
Baseline contains three areas of funding for tennis players. The first element will be a guaranteed base income for the top 250 singles players each season. In the event that a tennis player’s prize money is less than the established minimum, ATP will compensate for the difference. Payouts range from $75,000 to $300,000 (for top 100 players).
The second part focuses on injury protection and will be for tennis players who have played fewer than nine ATP Tour and Challenger Tour tournaments in a season due to injury. Compensation will be from 50 thousand to 200 thousand dollars, depending on the rating. The program will provide financial support to the player during the recovery period from damage.
The third point is aimed at supporting young tennis players. After his first top 125 finish, the young player will have access to $200,000 in funding for the season.
It is expected that 30 to 45 players will receive financial support annually. Eligibility for the program will be granted based on a number of criteria. A three-year trial period will test the program in action with a possible increase in funding in the future.
