54 days after the sporting mega-event, the venue displays its modern lights in the stadium’s national park. Among other novelties, it is positioned as one of the three most modern centers in South America.
The National Stadium Park Tennis Center is progressing by leaps and bounds. Its delivery is scheduled for September 19, but the most significant advances are already visible. Now the modern lights with which the clay courts will be illuminated have been switched on.
The lighting system was delivered, with the same quality as that used for the Grand Slam television broadcasts. It is approximately 2,076 lux on the ground for the TV level and 1,706 for the non-TV level. The plan used is that of the Dali regulations, with automatic lights that will be present in the central court and in four mini-courts. The rest of the courts will be equipped with ONE lights.
These advances transform the national site into one of the three most modern in South America. It has a structure similar to the Roland Garros court, with the same equipment as the ATP 500 in Hamburg, as well as a two-storey administrative building with a press room, three changing rooms and technical rooms.
Along with the above, the Center introduces other necessary innovations. For example, the drainage system will prevent water from stagnating on the surface and you will have faster recovery than before. That way, you don’t have to wait too long for them to be operational after the winter rains.
To make this possible, a piece called flexodren has been put in place, which crosses the terrain below perpendicular to the mesh. . This drainage is fed by arms that channel the water towards the middle. Water flows through drainage areas, falls into drainage buckets, which are PVC frames about two meters high by two meters wide, and receives the water. This new system replaces the old one which used round stones, which generated holes in the courts.
On the progress of the installation, Israel Castro, director of the INDIANA pointed out that: “We have taken a big step forward in sports infrastructure with a first level place that comes to give category and prestige to our country”.
“Its facilities, courts, changing rooms and the Central Court itself allow us to project ourselves to host different events, even those of the highest hierarchy. It’s a wonderful scenario that will allow us to take advantage of the Pan American and Parapan American Games “, he added.
In addition to tennis, the site will accommodate squash, racquetball and wheelchair tennis. Disciplines that will be played at Santiago 2023.
