Athletistic/Tennis. 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams has commented on her return to the field after a year out through injury.

“I didn’t finish my career. I just needed to recover physically and mentally. To be honest, I had no plan. I just didn’t know when I would be back. Wimbledon is a great place, and I finally made it,” Williams said.

The 40-year-old tennis player last played in June 2021 at Wimbledon. Serena’s comeback came at the Eastbourne International Tennis Tournament, where she played doubles against Tunisia’s Uns Jabir. Williams and Jabir reached the semi-finals of the competition, but were forced to withdraw from the tournament due to Jabir’s right knee injury.

Serena Williams’ next tournament will be Wimbledon. On June 28, in the first round of the competition, the American will play with French tennis player Harmony Tan.
