Ukrainian performs in tandem with Elena Ostapenko
Ukrainian Ludmila Kichenok made it to the second round doubles at the 2023 US Open.
The Ukrainian-Latvian duo of Kichenok and Elena Ostapenko outplayed a pair of Andrea Gamis (Venezuela) / Sarah Sorribes-Tormo (Spain) in three sets. The match lasted two hours and 23 minutes.
The first game ended with the score 7:5 in favor of Kichenki and Ostapenko. Gamis and Sorribes-Tormo took the second set (6:4), but the Ukrainian-Latvian pair scored a key break in the second game (6:3) in the decisive set.
The next rivals for Kichenok and Ostapenko will be Elina Avanesyan and Kamilla Rakhimova, who compete under a neutral flag.
