Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek, clear favorites for the title, advanced to the fourth round. By losing two sets, the first racket in the women’s world defeated her opponent, losing only one game.
Coco Gauff also made her comeback, she lost the first set but then picked up a win over Elise Mertens.

Novak Djokovic defeated Laszlo Djere, trailing 0-2 during the match
Novak Djokovic was in danger of being knocked out of the 2023 US Open as No. 32 seed Laszlo Györé put in a solid performance to win the first two sets 6-4, 6-4. However, the 23-time TBSH winner did not succumb to the pressure and defeated his compatriot in the next two sets with the same score of 6-1.
In the fifth set, Djokovic prevailed 6-3 and won the match. In a similar situation, the Serbian was only on the seventh time in his career.
In the 1/8 finals, he will meet Croatian Borna Goyo.
Iga Svötek crushes Kaya Juvan to continue defending her US Open title
Meanwhile, Iga Šwiętek dominated the third round against his good friend Kai Juvan. The Pole just didn’t notice his Slovenian rival.
Swiatek won the first nine games of the match, recovering his opponent’s serve four times. Then Juvan won the game for the first time and then Sventek again allowed a three-game streak, giving their opponent only 2 points.
The world’s first racquet beat the opponent 6-0, 6-1 in less than an hour. Swiatek also beat Rebecca Peterson in the first round by the same scoreline and lost just nine games in her first three matches. She will then face Elena Ostapenko for a place in the quarter-finals of the 2023 US Open.
While Šwiętek has looked flawless so far defending the 2022 US Open title, the fourth-round match against the former Roland Garros winner will be a litmus test for her.
Coco Gauff made her comeback against Elise Mertens
Coco Gauff won a match again at US Open 2023, losing the first set.
In the third round, the American was forced to bounce back in the third-round match against 32nd-seeded Eliza Mertens. After facing Laura Sigmund in three sets in the first round, 19-year-old Gauff found herself in a similar situation as she lost the first set due to repeated errors.
However, Gauff eventually pulled herself together in the second set and improved her game. She collected five break points on serve and then scooped up Mertens’ serve twice towards the end of the set, winning it 6-3.
The deciding set went to one goal, Gauff demolished Mertens from the pitch and finished the game 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. In the fourth round, she will meet the former first racket in the world Caroline Wozniacki, and this fight should be the decoration of the 1/8 finals of the US Open.
The departure of Rybakina is the main feeling of the day
Elena Rybakina suffered from shoulder problems in the third round match, losing 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-4 to Romania’s No. 30 seed Sorana Kyrsta. Rybakina landed 30 winners in the encounter with Kyrstey, but it was all canceled out by the 56 unforced errors she committed.
Kyrsta, for her part, looked solid, although she lost the tie-break in the second set, in the third set she led the way to victory.
Rybakina couldn’t handle the ground strikes in the deciding set and lost serve four times. With the score at 4-5, she double faulted on the opponent’s match ball and gave Kõrsta the win.
For Kirsti, this victory was the first in the confrontation with Rybakina.
