Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov praised his performance at the US Open‑2023 and said he was far from his best.
Last year, the American tournament semi-finalist lost in the first round to American Michael Mmo (WC) in three sets – 6:2, 6:4, 6:2.
Thanks to the US Open and all the fans for making this Grand Slam my favorite. This year, I had a different feeling… After three months of being away from the tour, it was nice to come back to the big stage and feel the energy of the audience again.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t prepare better for lack of time. But I really wanted to play here. I know I’m not even close to my best form and my best game right now, it will take time for me to come back. Now I’m going to see my doctors again to make sure I’m 100% healthy. And after that I will continue to prepare for a series of Asian tournaments, I will work hard to get in shape,” Khachanov wrote on social media.
