Former Russian tennis player, winner of two Grand Slam mixed doubles tournaments Andrey Olkhovsky commented on the victory of the Russian Daniel Medvedev against the Australian Alex de Minaur in the 1/8 finals of the US Open.
Medvedev beat his opponent in four sets – 2:6, 6:4, 6:1, 6:2.
– As I said, the Grand Slam five-set format is a slightly different tournament, a different format to the one in which Daniil recently lost to the Australian in Canada. This time Medvedev played more skillfully tactically and came up with the most awkward play for de Minaur. After losing the first set, Daniil pulled himself together a bit, took a break, which Woodbridge journalists and commentators now refer to. In my opinion, Medvedev played a good game with confidence, – quotes the words of Olkhovsky “RB Sport”.
In the quarter-finals, Medvedev’s opponent will be his compatriot Andrey Rublev.
