Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz said that in the semifinals of the US Open against Daniel Medvedev may have a tactical advantage.
On Wednesday, Alcaraz outscored Germany’s Alexander Zverev in three games in the US Open quarterfinals. Medvedev was also stronger than Andrei Rublev in three sets.
– I played the last games against Daniil ideally tactically. Everything I had to do in the match against him, I did very well. I think my style of play is ideal for an opponent like Medvedev. Therefore, I will try to play the same as Indian Wells and Wimbledon, for example, and get the win,” Alcaraz said in a post-match press conference with Zverev.
Alcaraz and Medvedev have faced each other three times, including two in 2023. In March, at the Indian Wells tournament, the Spaniard won with a score of 2:0, then in July, within the framework of Wimbledon, he wins again in the dry – 3:0.
The Alcaraz-Medvedev match is scheduled for the US Open on September 8. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) and Ben Shelton (USA) will play in the other semi-final.
