Wimbledon main draw starts today. Three Ukrainian tennis players will take to the court

The matches of the first round will be held by Kalinina, Tsurenko and Kostyuk

Today, June 27, the main draw of the men’s and women’s tournaments starts Wimbledon. Three representatives of Ukraine will enter the court – Angelina Kalinina, Lesya Tsurenko and Marta Kostyuk.

Kalinina at the start of Wimbledon will play against Anna Bondar from Hungary. The first racket of Ukraine received the 29th singles seed.

Tsurenko, who avoided qualifying this year, will face Britain’s Jody Burrege. Kostyuk will play with another representative of Great Britain – Cathy Swan.

Matches Kalinina and Tsurenko start at 13:00 Kyiv time. The Kostyuk fight will start no earlier than 19:00.

On Tuesday, June 28, Dayana Yastremska will play her first round match. She will play against Romanian Ana Bogdan.

Through qualification in the main draw of Wimbledon, Ukrainians Katarina Zavatskaya, Katerina Beindl and Daria Snigur could not break through.

Recall that Russian and Belarusian tennis players were not allowed to participate in Wimbledon due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Because of this, the ATP, WTA and ITF will not award ranking points for performance in the tournament.

The total prize fund of Wimbledon this year will be a record 40.35 million pounds. Champions of the single men’s and women’s tournaments will receive two million pounds, finalists – more than a million.
