President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFT) Shamil Tarpishchev told that he does not consider the transition a loss for the Russian team Varvara Gracheva under the French flag.
Gracheva started representing France in June.
— Russian tennis players are going to play in other countries, could this become a trend?
“We don’t have a single tennis player like that.” Gracheva left for France, but she was not in our orbit and did not train with our team.
– Isn’t it a loss?
– What loss? Why should this be a loss?
– Potentially, she’s a good tennis player…
“The loss of a fifth world player, everything else is not,” Tarpishchev told .
Gracheva, 23, is currently ranked 40th in the world.
