Zvonareva and Siegemund were defeated in the deciding match with a score of 6:7 (9:11), 3:6. The meeting lasted 2 hours 11 minutes. Midway through the second set, when the score was 0:3, the German took a medical timeout due to lower back problems.
Routliffe and Dabrowski won their first Grand Slam doubles title.
Zvonareva made her debut on the WTA tour in 2000. The 39-year-old tennis player played in the final of a Grand Slam tournament in doubles for the fifth time in her career and for the second time in a duet with Siegemund.
