Angelina and Lesya will play each other in the second round of Wimbledon
The first racket of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina commented on her debut in the main draw Wimbledon.
In the opening match of the tournament, Kalinina defeated the Hungarian Anna Bondar, and in the second round she will play against another Ukrainian, Lesya Tsurenko.
“First of all, I played for the first time at Wimbledon. I think that today there were too many nerves for the first round. But I’m still happy that everything worked out. I’m not really happy with the quality of the game, but I hope I’ll play better in the next match. I think we will have a very good match with Lesya Tsurenko between two Ukrainians. I don’t know how much it will mean to Ukrainians. It’s just good that two Ukrainians made it to the second round, ”Kalinina said.
“Ukrainian flag in the stands? I think it was just people who wanted to support me. I am always grateful when Ukrainians come and watch my matches, when they support me. It always means a lot to me. I feel comfortable, I feel that I am not alone on the court. Yes, I am very grateful when they come to watch my matches.”
“I have friends in Tours. Some of them are closer, some are less. But those people who are really close to me, they were there. They were ready to give me a roof over my head, they were ready to help with money. I said, guys, I know that you are around, but I will try to cope on my own. I know that I have friends, that they are ready to support me not only in words, that they are ready to help even my family.”
The match between Kalinina and Tsurenko will take place on Wednesday, June 29. For tennis players, this will be the first face-to-face meeting.
