President of Russia Vladimir Poutine as well as participants in the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) applauded the Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev who reached the final of the US Open.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old Russian lost to Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic in the final of the tournament in three sets – 3:6, 6:7 (5:7), 3:6. In the semifinals, Medvedev defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who was then leader of the ATP rankings. According to the results of the US Open, Djokovic rose to first place, Medvedev is still in third place.
“Let’s say thank you to Daniil Medvedev for being able to do it (reach the US Open final),” the forum moderator said during the meeting.
Medvedev is the winner of the US Open 2021. The Russian beat Djokovic in the final.
