Mouratoglou has expressed his deep shock at the International Tennis Anti-Doping Agency’s decision to impose a four-year ban on Simona Halep. The Frenchman has been training Halep since spring 2022.
“I know how honest Simone is and I never doubted that she took illegal drugs. I attended all the hearings with her and I can’t believe the court made this decision on the based on the evidence and arguments that I managed to hear. This was completely unfair and unacceptable for Simone. I hope she wins the case before CAS, which is the only court not controlled by ITIA. And I hope the WTA, ATP and PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association) will do their best to change a system that destroys the careers of innocent people,” Mouratoglou said on his social media.
Previously, it became known that Simona Halep was disqualified until October 2026 due to the discovery of roxadustat in the athlete’s anti-doping tests.
