Polish winner of four Grand Slam tournaments Iga Swiętek announced that she refused to participate in the WTA 1000 tournament in Guadalajara (Mexico).
The tournament will take place from September 17 to 23.
— I have to miss the Guadalajara tournament due to a schedule change. This season is very stressful and I need to listen to my body. I wouldn’t want to risk getting hurt. My priority is to play this season in its entirety. “See you in Tokyo,” Schwiatek, 22, wrote on social media.
Schwiatek is the winner of 15 WTA tournaments, the second racket in the world. Following the results of the US Open, the Pole lost her leadership in the world rankings to the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
