Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev said he would not play at the ATP 250 tournament in Zhuhai.
The competition in China will be held from September 20 to 26.
– I’m sorry to tell you, but I will not be participating in the Zhuhai tournament this year. I apologize to my Chinese fans, it’s very difficult for me to talk about this. However, the recently concluded US Open was physically and mentally intense. I really wanted to come to your tournament, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and the city. I hope to see you next year,” Medvedev said in a video posted on Chinese microblogging service Sina Weibo.
Earlier, the Russian announced that he would not participate in the exhibition tournament of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown series, which will be held from September 15 to 17 in Germany in Frankfurt am Main.
Last week, the Russian reached the final of the US Open, where he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic in three sets.
