Earlier, Serena Williams expressed her opinion on Halep’s disqualification on her social media, hinting at a possible number of Wimbledon titles if the Romanian tennis player had not beaten her in 2019. “Eight is the best number ” Williams wrote, reacting to the news of Halep’s four-year ban for doping.
“I believe everyone has the right to express their opinion about me because the court decided that I was guilty. Today someone told me that the players I beat made me hated it,” Halep said in an interview with Front Office Sports.
She also stressed that she did not agree with the decision of the independent tribunal and intended to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
