Athletistic/Tennis. Alexei Selivanenko, vice-president of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF), said whether it is possible for Russian tennis players to participate in the Laver Cup exhibition tournament.
“It’s not a question of admission, but a question of the choice of the organizers. Together with the captains, the organizers choose the rosters. And the criteria by which the organizers are guided is solely their decision,” Selivanenko said.
The Laver Cup will be held in London from September 23-25, 2022. As part of the tournament, tennis players compete in singles and doubles. Two teams are battling it out for the Laver Cup – the European team led by legendary former tennis player Bjorn Borg and the World team led by the no less legendary John McEnroe.
At the moment, three of the six members of each team are known. In the European team, they are Rafael Nadal (Spain), Andy Murray (Great Britain) and Roger Federer (Switzerland). The World Team includes Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada), Taylor Fritz (USA) and Diego Schwartzman (Argentina).
