Clara Tausson from Denmark did not finish the match against Kazakhstan representative Yulia Putintseva. The 20-year-old athlete just fell on the court at the beginning of the 3rd set. The athlete suffered a heat stroke, so severe that he was unable to leave the court. The tennis player was taken to the hospital on a gurney.
Following the incident, organizers moved the start of Thursday’s matches at the Guangzhou courts to a later time. The city is currently experiencing extreme weather conditions. The temperature reached +37 degrees.
