Our countrymen truly showed up in the second round of the Grand Slam tournament.
A real three-set thriller was seen by the audience at the Ukrainian derby at Wimbledon, with the rivalry between Angelina Kalinina and Lesya Tsurenko. Kalinina, in the status of a favorite, confidently started the fight in the second round. He removed the opponent’s first serve, then he brought the thing to victory in the starting set.
However, the more experienced Tsurenko was able to change the course of the meeting. In the second game, he was able to snatch the win by taking the last serve of the game from the 29th seed.
The decisive part of the fight against Kalinina’s attacks began again. He, when he got Tsurenko’s serve, led the set 3: 1, but the favorite had no strength left. Tsurenko won five consecutive games, took the set and the fight.
As a result, the match lasted two hours and 32 minutes and ended with a score of 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 3 in favor of Tsurenko. Note that opponents do not serve an ace during the match and commit four double faults each.
In the next round, Tsurenko will face German Jule Niemeyer, who unexpectedly knocked out the world’s third racket, Anette Kontaveit, from the bout.
