Yastremskaya — about departure from Wimbledon: There are no words to describe this match

Diana eliminated in the first round

Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya commented on the departure from Wimbledon 2022. In the first round, the Ukrainian lost to the Romanian Ana Bogdan.

“I don’t know, to be honest, what to say about this game. I have no words to describe this match. I just felt very uncomfortable on the court. The last two weeks of tournaments have not been very good for me. In training, I feel ready, but then I go out on the court, and I don’t even know what to say, I don’t have enough words to say something. ”

Yastremskaya also spoke about the removal of Russian and Belarusian athletes from participation in Wimbledon. According to Dayana, most tennis players do not talk about the war in Ukraine in the context of this topic.

“I think Wimbledon made the right decision. This is true. Taking points away from all tennis players is not fair. And, to be honest, I do not understand why all the players are satisfied with this. Several players have said something that is wrong. I don’t know why many people won’t say a word, why they don’t say that this is unfair even personally in relation to themselves.”

“Compared to what is happening in Ukraine, more players are talking about the removal of Russians and Belarusians, and not about Ukraine. So it’s very difficult to say who these players support, they support athletes from Russia and Belarus, or they support Ukraine. I dont know. I think if they get banned in other sports, I think it should be the same in tennis.”

Recall that Russian and Belarusian tennis players were not allowed to participate in Wimbledon due to the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Because of this, the ATP, WTA and ITF will not award ranking points for performance in the tournament.

Three Ukrainians continue their performances at Wimbledon 2022 – Marta Kostyuk, Lesya Tsurenko and Angelina Kalinina.
