Elena Rybakina withdrew from the Tokyo tennis tournament

Fifth racket in the world Elena Rybakina refused to participate in the WTA 500 tennis tournament in Tokyo.

— I’m really sorry that I had to withdraw from the Tokyo tournament this year. I couldn’t wait to play this tournament, I love this city. I need to prioritize my physical fitness, I need time to feel completely healthy,” the Kazakh tennis player was quoted as saying by Tennis World USA.

Rybakina was seeded third in the tournament; the 2022 Wimbledon champion will be replaced in the main draw by the Japanese Himeno Sakatsume, who will meet the Czech Linda Noskova in the first round.

The hard court tournament in the capital of Japan will take place from September 25 to October 1, the prize money is around $780,000.
