Kalinina: I can’t even imagine when we could return home

Angelina will hold her next tournament in Budapest

Angelina Kalinina commented on the uncertainty that accompanies the first racket of Ukraine against the backdrop of a full-scale Russian invasion.

The Ukrainian lives in a busy tennis tour schedule and does not have a permanent place to practice.

“We want Ukraine to win. We pray for peace, but I can’t even imagine when we could return home. I jump from tournament to tournament like everyone else. Hotel, hotel, hotel. And so since the beginning of February, ”explained Angelina.

“My husband and I have two large, heavy bags. That’s how we travel. Where is my training base? Nowhere. I train in tournaments. I come and train. Then I will go to Budapest, then to Hamburg, then to the USA. I’ll play in San Jose and maybe Toronto.”

Kalinina left Wimbledon yesterday, losing in the second round to her compatriot Lesya Tsurenko in three games.

In June, Angelina became the first racket of Ukraine, ahead of Elina Svitolina in the WTA world rankings.

The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine continues for the 127th day.
