Former world number one Eugene Kafelnikov said that for the Russian tennis player Romana Safioullina reaching the final of the ATP tournament is a good result.
On Tuesday, the Russian lost to the representative of Germany, Alexander Zverev, in the final of the ATP 250 series tournament in Chengdu (China). The match ended with a score of 7:6 (7:2), 6:7 (5:7), 3:6.
— Getting to the final for the first time at the ATP level is a good result. Further progress will depend on Roman himself. Whatever goals he sets for himself, those will be the results. He definitely has potential, so it all depends on himself,” Kafelnikov told RB Sport.
Safiullin, 26, missed the chance to win his first ATP title.
