Athletistic / Tennis. The Russian Veronika Kudermetova (19th racket in the world) met the Polish Iga Swiatek (second number in the world ranking) in the quarter-finals of the WTA-500 tournament in Tokyo (Japan). The match ended with Veronica winning in three sets with a score of 6:2, 2:6, 6:4.

The duration of the match was 2 hours 20 minutes. Kudermetova had four aces, two errors on her serve and three breaks from eight break points. Swiatek completed a serve in the match, committed six double faults and converted two break points on four attempts.

Note that for the first time in her career, the Russian managed to beat the former first racket in the world. Previously, Swiatek and Kudermetova met four times at WTA tournaments and each time the Polish tennis player celebrated her success.

In the semi-final of the competition in the capital of Japan, Veronika Kudemetova will meet her compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (86th in the world rankings). The tournament final in Tokyo will take place on October 1, and the total prize money in 2023 is $780,000.
