Athletistic / Tennis. Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko (49th racket in the world) said that the tennis community had stopped discussing events in her home country. She also once again criticized the leadership of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).

“For a year and a half, we have been in a state of constant confrontation with the WTA.

Since Roland Garros this year, they stopped asking me questions about the events in Ukraine. I didn’t have a single press conference at Wimbledon. Therefore, there is now a real feeling that in tennis they are trying to keep this topic under wraps as much as possible. But personally, I strive to continue the fight and clarify all issues. There are also certain processes that we cannot disclose due to privacy policies. Rest assured that we are still fighting.

As for the use of flags, the popularization of Russian tennis players, their pages on social networks… Everything has been mentioned on numerous occasions. But unfortunately, in most cases, they don’t hear us and don’t want to hear us. This really surprises me. Especially when it comes to flags. There were many similar situations. Well, they can’t get rid of all that. They really couldn’t remove the flags completely, since they were present at both tournaments and drawing ceremonies. What more can i say? It’s the WTA. That explains everything,” Tsurenko was quoted as saying by Ukrainian Tennis.

Tennis players from Russia and Belarus, after the start of events in Ukraine, are allowed to participate in ATP and WTA tournaments with neutral status. However, in 2022, Russian and Belarusian players were not allowed to participate in tournaments in the United Kingdom. In response, the ATP and WTA stripped Wimbledon of ranking points and also fined the tournament organizers $1 million.
