Athletistic / Tennis. French tennis player Adrian Mannarino (34th racket in the world) shared his opinion on the level of Russian tennis players.
“I’ve played with a lot of Russians before: with Safin, Yuzhny, Davydenko. But it was so long ago. I don’t even remember it, even though Nikolai was an incredible player. But when I played against him, he was just finishing his career., so this is definitely not the same Davydenko who won the Masters and other major tournaments.
And the new generation of Russian players is simply brilliant: Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev, Karen Khachanov. It’s great to see how often Russia produces so many great tennis players. I’ve spent a lot of time on tour and I can say that these guys are a pleasure to be around and also to play against. Medvedev is great. Daniil, of course, is not the type of player who impresses or surprises with his tennis, but being on the other side of the net is just a nightmare. These are always long exchanges. Even if I lose to him, either way, I’m having fun on the court – I’m just having fun playing with him,” Mannarino was quoted as saying by ‘Championship’.
Daniil Medvedev currently occupies third place in the ATP rankings. In 2022, it was the world’s number one racket for about three months (in total). Mannarino faced Medvedev seven times and the Frenchman celebrated victory four times.
