In the final, the second racket of the world beat the “neutral” tennis player Samsonova
Polish tennis player Iga Šwiętek won the tournament final WTA 1000 in Chinese Beijing.
In the decisive confrontation, the second racket of the world dealt with Lyudmila Samsonova (No. 22 in the world ranking), performing under a neutral flag.
The meeting lasted a little over an hour. Iga confidently realized her advantage in both sets, not making a single double fault (versus Samsonova’s six) and losing only four games to her opponent.
For the Polish tennis player, who lost first place in the world rankings to Aryna Sabalenka in early September, this victory in the final was the first in more than two months. Her previous triumph was the WTA 250 tournament in her native Poland (late July), where she defeated German Laura Siegemund in the final.
On the way to the final, Schwiatek passed the Spanish Sara Sorribes-Tormo, the French Varvara Gracheva, compatriot Magda Linette, another representative of France Caroline Garcia (the offender of our Angelina Kalinina) and the American Coco Gauff, the recent winner of the US Open.
