Swiatek ended Gauff’s impressive 16-match winning streak on the main circuit by convincingly beating her 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Lyudmila Samsonova, on the other hand, had 31 victories in 52 matches and finished second at the Abu Dhabi Open and the Canadian Open. She also reached the semi-finals in Washington and the third round of the 2023 US Open.
The Russian is playing well at the China Open, beating athletes such as Alicia Parks, Marta Kostyuk, Elena Ostapenko and Elena Rybakina en route to the final.
She claimed the title with a stunning 7-6(9), 6-3 victory over Elena Rybakina in the semifinals.
