Two Ukrainian tennis players started the tournament WTA 500 V Zhengzhou (China).
Qualification winner Lesya Tsurenko reached the second round, beating Diana Schneider, who competes under a neutral flag, at the start of the main draw. The two-set match lasted 83 minutes (6:4, 6:2).
But compatriot Tsurenko, Ekaterina Volodko, could not beat Qin Wen Zheng from China. The Ukrainian scored two breaks during the match (1 hour and 25 minutes), but gave up five of her serves to her opponent – 4:6, 3:6.
Tsurenko will play against Donna Vekic from Croatia in the second round. Also performing in China will be Angelina Kalinina, who will play Ellen Perez from Australia in the first round.
