Rublev opened the Masters 1000 tournament with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Quentin Ghaly before demolishing No. 31 seed Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 6-0. A 7-5, 7-5 victory over Tommy Paul advanced to the quarterfinals, where he defeated 32nd-seeded Ugo Humbert.
