Martha was injured in a doubles tournament match
Marta Kostyuk will not play in the mixed doubles tournament on Wimbledon.
The Ukrainian refused to play in the mixed doubles due to an ankle injury, which she received in a doubles tournament match. In the mixed tournament, Marta had to play in a duet with the Pole Lukasz Kubot.
“Unfortunately, I injured my ankle in a doubles match at Wimbledon. With one complete and one partial tear in my right ankle, I won’t be able to compete in the coming weeks until I’m fully recovered,” Kostyuk wrote on Instagram.
“Lukas Kubot, I really really wanted to perform with you. I will try my best to come back healthy and stronger. Thank you Wimbledon, see you next year.”
Yesterday Kostyuk and Tereza Martincova of Czech Republic were eliminated in the second round of the doubles tournament at Wimbledon.
Also at the stage of the second round, Martha stopped performing in the Wimbledon singles draw, losing to Chinese Zhang Shuai.
