The WTA has fined the tennis federation and the Wimbledon tournament for not allowing tennis players of these nationalities to participate.
The WTA has imposed severe penalties on the British tennis federation (LTA, for its acronym in English), for which it must pay a fine of 620,000 pounds (720,000 euros) and the Wimbledon tournament with 200,000 pounds (245,000 euros) for banning tennis players of Russian and Belarusian origin from playing.
The harsh proposal matches the Nottingham and Eastbourne tournaments, which are run by the LTA, and in Birmingham, whose license is held by the All England Club.
This year, tournaments in Britain prevented the participation of Russians and Belarusians to avoid an apology for the Vladimir Putin regime, which led the ATP and WTA to remove points from the tournament. This economic fine may be followed by a similar ATP fine.
