Tennis player Varvara Gracheva who changed sporting nationality, won his first match with the French team.
She played her first match for the French team during the group stage of the Billy Ging Cup. Her opponent, German Tatiana Maria, refused to continue the match even though the score was 3:0 in her favor.
At the end of March, 23-year-old Gracheva announced her decision to change her Russian citizenship to French. In June, it was announced on the official website of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) under the French flag.
The Muscovite has been training in Cannes since 2016 and has lived in France for seven years. Gracheva has won seven titles at International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments. She is ranked 44th in the WTA rankings.
