Ukrainian-Latvian duet gave drama in the quarterfinals
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok and Elena Ostapenko left Latvia for Wimbledon doubles semi-finals.
In the 1/4 finals, the Ukrainian-Latvian duet, which received the fourth seed, beat the eighth seeded of the event – Shuko Aoyama and Zhang Haoqing. The meeting lasted 2 hours and four minutes.
In the first game, Aoyama and Haotsin turned out to be stronger – 6:4. The second set turned out to be successful for Kichenki and Ostapenko – 6:1.
In the decisive game, the Ukrainian-Latvian tandem was inferior (0:3 and 3:5), but managed to eliminate the rivals’ match points, make two breaks and snatch victory on their first attempt – 7:5.
In the 1/2 finals of Wimbledon, Kichenok and Ostapenko will play against the duo Barbor Kreichikov / Katerina Sinyakova. The match will take place on July 8.
