The Russian lost to the French Yugo Umberu , who has the fourth seed in the tournament. The match lasted a little over an hour and ended with a score of 3:6, 3:6. Shevchenko had four aces and committed two double faults.
Shevchenko, 22, participated in the final of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament for the first time in her career.
