Athletistic/Tennis. Defending champion Novak Djokovic will face Holger Rune in the group stage of the 2023 ATP Finals on Sunday, November 12.

Djokovic has won three TSBs this year, including his record 24th US Open title. He also finished second at Wimbledon, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller.

Djokovic then won the final of the Cincinnati Masters against Alcaraz and, more recently, the Paris Masters. He also won the Adelaide International 1 earlier in the season. The Serbian’s annual record is an impressive 51-5.

Rune also had a pretty good season for the most part. He reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. He also reached two finals at Masters level in Monte Carlo and Rome. The Danish tennis player won his only title of the year in Munich, at the BMW Open.

Rune also went through a tough time after his Wimbledon exit, as he won only one of his nine matches afterward. Since then, he has played pretty well. He first reached the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel, then the quarter-finals of the Masters tournament in Paris, of which he was the defending champion.

In personal meetings, Djokovic and Rune are 2-2. Djokovic won his last match at the 2023 Paris Masters in three sets.

Prediction for the match Novak Djokovic – Holger Rune

Djokovic has been a difficult player to beat this season. He is currently on an 18-match winning streak, which began with the Cincinnati tournament, won by Novak. What’s even more impressive is that of his five losses this season, only one has come on hard courts.

Djokovic’s record on hard court is an impressive 33-1. Daniil Medvedev is the only player to have beaten him on hard court. The Serbian has tense matches with Rune, and neither player has won two matches in a row in this confrontation yet.

The tennis players battled earlier this month in Paris and Djokovic sent defending champion Rune home.

Rune beat Djokovic at the Italian Open this year. But the Serbian has moved to another level in recent months and should be able to outperform his younger opponent again.

Forecast: Novak Djokovic will win in three sets.
