Dayana’s strong-willed victory allowed our team to win their match ahead of schedule and qualify for the tournament
Dayana Yastremskaya won a strong-willed victory over Susan Lamens and brought Ukraine decisive third point in the confrontation with the Netherlands in the playoff match Billie Jean King Cup.
The Ukrainian lost to the world number 218 in the first set 4:6, but managed to take convincing revenge in the second game, losing only one game to her opponent.
The decisive set was closely fought and lasted more than an hour. With the score 4:4, Yastremskaya beat Lamens on someone else’s serve, but immediately lost on her own. However, Dayana made a break again, after which she consolidated her success – 7:5.
Let us remind you that earlier in Vilnius Yastremskaya lost to Arancha Rus. In turn, Angelina Kalinina beat first Lamens and then Rus.
The score in the confrontation became 3:1 in favor of Ukraine. Having won, our team qualified for the Billie Jean King Cup, which will take place in 2024.
