There followed a sensational defeat of the Russian Roman Safiullin at the start of the Masters in Paris, and a third defeat in a row at the start of the ATP Finals Championship in Turin, where his opponent was the German Alexander Zverev.
In the second round of the final tournament, Alcaraz (2) will face the 2021 US Open champion and third racket in the world, representative of Russia – Daniil Medvedev (3).
