Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev repeated the feat of the Russian Olympic champion Evgeniy Kafelnikov after beating compatriot Andrey Rublev at the ATP Finals tournament in Italy, reports OptaAce.
Medvedev defeated Rublev in the group stage match of the ATP Finals tournament in Turin with a score of 6:4, 6:2. This is Medvedev’s 11th victory in a calendar year against a player in the top ten of the ATP rankings. Kafelnikov managed to do the same in 1994.
The ATP Finals 2023 tournament will take place in Turin from November 12 to 19. The winner could win more than $4.8 million. Last year, Serbian Novak Djokovic became the tournament champion.
