Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew from the ATP Finals in Turin due to a back injury, reports the press service of the Association of Tennis Professionals.
Tsitsipas will be replaced by a Pole Hubert Hurkacz . On Tuesday, the Greek could not finish the match of the group stage against the Dane Holger Rune, he gave up the fight in the first set with the score 1:2.
“I apologize to all the supporters and spectators who came to support me and watch the match. I’m very upset that I couldn’t finish the game. It’s also a shame that I can’t give this place to someone else so that they can at least try to do something,” Tsitsipas said .
The ATP Finals 2023 tournament will take place in Turin from November 12 to 19. The winner could win more than $4.8 million. Last year, Serbian Novak Djokovic became the tournament champion.
