Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic lost to the Italian Jannik sinner during the group round match of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) final tournament.
The match lasted a little over 3 hours and ended with a score of 7:5, 6:7 (5:7), 7:6 (7:2) in favor of Sinner. Djokovic made 20 aces and 1 double fault, Sinner made 15 aces and 2 double faults.
Sinner beat Djokovic for the first time in his career; the Italian and the Serbian played four matches against each other. Sinner ended Djokovic’s 19-match winning streak, the last time the Serb lost to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final in July 2023.
Djokovic and Sinner are part of the green group for the final tournament. In the final match of the tournament group stage, Djokovic will meet Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, while Sinner will meet Norway’s Holger Rune.
The ATP Finals 2023 tournament will take place in Turin from November 12 to 19. The Red Group includes Russians Andrei Rublev and Daniil Medvedev. The winner could win more than $4.8 million. Last year, Djokovic became the tournament champion.
