Two tennis players were disqualified for life, three – for a period of 2 to 12 years for match-fixing

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has disqualified five tennis players involved in match-fixing in Belgium.

The sanctions were imposed after the five players failed to contest the charges brought by the ITIA against them within the prescribed time limit.

Mexican Alberto Rojas Maldonado was found guilty of 92 violations and played a key role in corrupting other players. He was banned for life and must pay a $250,000 fine. His compatriots José Antonio Rodriguez were suspended for 12 years and fined $25,000, Antonio Ruiz Rosales was disqualified for 10 years and must pay $30,000, and Orlando Alcantara Rangel will be out the next two years and was fined $10,000. Guatemalan Christopher Diaz-Figueroa was banned from competition for life and fined 75,000 euros.

Although not eligible, players are prohibited from coaching, playing or attending any tennis event authorized or sanctioned by ITIA members: ATP, ITF, WTA, Australian Open , Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open, as well as any national association.
