Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic spends his 400th week as career ATP ranking leader.
On Sunday, Djokovic won the ATP Finals for a record seventh time, beating Italian Jannik Sinner in the final. In total, the 36-year-old Serbian has 98 victories in ATP tournaments.
– This is a very good achievement – 400 weeks in first place. This has never happened before in history. Ultimately, someone will break this record, but I hope it stays that way for a long time,” Djokovic said according to the ATP press service.
Djokovic now has 11,245 points, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is second (8,855) and Russian Daniil Medvedev (7,600) completes the top 3.
The Serbian holds the record for the number of weeks spent at the top of the rankings. Among men, this record previously belonged to the Swiss Roger Federer – 310 weeks; among women, the best result was held by the German Steffi Graf (377).
