Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFT), Alexey Selivanenko, believes Romana Safioullina And Pavel Kotova the most progressive Russian tennis players based on 2023 results.
At the end of the season, Safiullin rose from 88th to 39th place in the ATP rankings, Kotov from 117th to 67th.
— If we talk about the most visible progress during the finished season, then Safiullin and Kotov should be mentioned. Each of them demonstrated the kind of play that gets results and gives them a reason to claim victory. Roman gained the much-needed confidence and felt the taste of victories in the most important tournaments. His current place in the end-of-season ranking is therefore far from limited; Roman certainly has more ambitious intentions. The same can be said about Pavel,” RB Sport quotes Selivanenko.
