Australian tennis player father Nika Kiriosa spoke about the penalties for his son at the passage of Wimbledon.
Kyrios was first fined $10,000 for spitting at a fan and calling a linesman a “snitch” during a tournament first-round match. And according to the results of the third round match with Greg Stefanos Tsitsipas, he was fined $4,000.
Kyrios’ father pointed out that Tsitsipas got carried away in the second set when he kicked the ball towards the audience which almost hit the fan in the head. Nick immediately complained to the presiding judge and asked for the disqualification of the opponent. As a result, Tsitsipas received only a stern warning.
“My son would have been disqualified for that. Sure. You have to stick to the same line with everyone,” said Giorgos Kyrios in an interview with Tennis Podcast.
In the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Kirios will face the Chilean Christian Garin.
