Fifth racket of the 26-year-old Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev spoke about the reasons for his emotional outbursts on the field during matches.
In November, during the final tournament, in a match against Carlos Alcaraz, Rublev, at the opening of the second match, after another mistake, hit himself several times with his racket on the left leg, causing the knee to bleed.
“I just really want to win, show a good result. But unfortunately, this sometimes results in aggression. When you really want something, but it doesn’t work out, the puzzle in your head doesn’t fit: “How is this possible?” I really wanted it, it was my dream, but the reality is different. My expectations of myself cause these emotions in me. No more resentment towards oneself,” Rublev told the “Championship”.
As a result, Rublev failed to leave the red group of the final tournament, losing in two matches to his compatriot Daniil Medvedev, German Alexander Zverev and Spaniard Alcaraz. This season, the Russian won the Monte Carlo Masters and the Båstad tournament and finished the year ranked fifth in the world. In total, Rublev, 26, owns 14 titles in ATP tournaments.
