The third racket of Ukraine Lesya Tsurenko will open the 2024 season with a tournament WTA 250 ASB Classic V Auckland.
Lesya, who occupies 31st position in the world ranking, is entered into the tournament together with the strongest Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, whose participation became known in advance. For both of our compatriots this will be the first performance in New Zealand.
The competition will take place from January 1 to January 7, 2024. This tournament can be considered as a stage of preparation for the Australian Open 2024, which will take place in the second half of January.
Let us remind you that four Ukrainian women have entered the Australian Open. In addition to Svitolina and Tsurenko, these are Angelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk – the second and fourth rackets of our country. Angelina and Martha chose to open the season with a tournament in Brisbane, Australia.
In the alternative list of the Grand Slam series tournament, Dayana Yastremskaya is in ninth position. She previously stated her goal was to gain enough ranking points to qualify for the main draw of the Australian Open. To this end, Dayana took part in competitions in Andorra and French Angers.
