In a difficult confrontation, the Ukrainian broke the resistance of the American Kessler in a tiebreaker
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya managed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 125 in French Angers.
In an almost three-hour confrontation, the Ukrainian defeated the American McCartney Kessler.
The first set for Diana was extremely dramatic. With the scores 5:3 and 5:4, she missed a set point three times, and ended up losing both of the next games to her opponent. Having collected herself, our compatriot took convincing revenge in the second game – 6:3.
In the third set the advantage shifted from side to side. Yastremskaya had to fight back from the score at 3:5, and she was immediately able to make a break. Then Dayana lost her serve with the score 6:5. In a dramatic tiebreaker, the Ukrainian got four match points and still converted the last of them – 11:9.
Dayana reached the semi-finals of the tournament, where she will play with the winner of the duel between Erica Andreeva (-) and Clara Burel (France). The latter is seeded number two in Angers.
Let us remind you that Yastremskaya was included in the alternative list of participants in the Australian Open-2024. Of the Ukrainians in the main draw, Elina Svitolina, Angelina Kalinina, Lesya Tsurenko and Marta Kostyuk received places.
