“Basically, I was declared the main villain in the world.” Djokovic recalled his expulsion from Australia in January 2022

The world’s first racket Novak Djokovic shared his memories of the Australian Open 2022. A Serbian tennis player was expelled from the country following a scandal involving a fake certificate and refusal to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

On January 5, 2022, Djokovic flew to Melbourne to participate in the Australian Open, but Australian authorities stopped him due to problems with medical exemption documents from mandatory vaccination, canceled his visa and sent him to quarantine. On January 10, a Melbourne court upheld the Serb’s appeal and ordered his release and return of his documents. But Immigration Minister Alex Hawke canceled the Serb’s visa again. On January 16, the Federal Court of Australia rejected another appeal against the cancellation of Djokovic’s visa and ordered him to leave the country. On January 17, Djokovic returns to Serbia.

– Essentially, I was declared the main villain of the world. Most of the world was against me. I have encountered similar things in the field when I was not supported, but this is exactly what I have never experienced in my life. People have tried to accuse me of being against vaccines, but that’s not true. I am not against it and I am not a supporter, I am for freedom of choice,” Djokovic said in an interview with CBS News.
